How to Use this Tool
Tool information
Paste the text of the article into the input text box.
The tool identifies the people mentioned and provides an individual person breakdown, including gender, a sentiment score, and a short explanation for why that sentiment was assigned.
It then compares the article’s gender distribution and average sentiment by gender against articles in the database.
Understanding sentiment scores
Sentiment scores reflect the emotional tone of the article’s language toward each person mentioned.
Scores range from -1 to 1:
-1 = highly negative
0 = neutral
1 = positive
Values between these points indicate varying degrees of negativity, neutrality, or positivity.
Tips for Best Results
Paste the full article text. For the most meaningful insights, compare the person-level results with the category and database values and use the sentiment explanation to interpret scores.
